A MAN has been arrested following a spate of damage to cars in Frodsham.

Officers from the Western Rural Neighbourhood Policing Unit arrested a 55-year-old man from Frodsham yesterday ( Sunday) , and he remains in police custody today.

During the past two weeks, police received reports of a number of cars and vans being vandalised in the Ship Street and Ashton Drive area, and in some cases, tyres being slashed.

The first incident occurred between the hours of 11pm on September 16 and 7am on September 17.

Police increased their presence in the area in an attempt to provide reassurance, deter further crimes being committed, and identify any potential offenders.

But they discovered a second incident occurred at about 1am yesterday (Sunday) whilst out on patrol, where once again tyres had been slashed.

Officers are urging anyone who may have been a victim of this type of crime to report the matter to Cheshire police by calling 101 and quoting incident 82 of September 23, or residents can call into Frodsham Police Station on Ship Street where arrangements have been made to take statements.
