A student from Malpas has been selected to become a national ambassador for the National Citizen Service (NCS).

Sixteen-year-old Victoria Saynor, who attends South Cheshire College, is just one of 100 young people chosen from the 80,000 who took part in NCS this year.

She spent her half term taking part in an intensive residential leadership programme designed to provide teenagers with opportunities to develop their skills and leadership potential.

Victoria had the opportunity to meet Eddisbury MP Antoinette Sandbach at the House of Commons as part of the week.

A 'tremendous' achievement

Ms Sandbach said: “I was delighted to meet Victoria Saynor at a reception and recognise what a tremendous achievement it is for her to become an NCS Leader.”

NCS is a three-week programme that brings together 16 and 17-year-olds from a variety of backgrounds to create a more responsible, cohesive and engaged society, spending 30 hours delivering a volunteer project of their choice.

It costs no more than £50 and is free for some.

Ambassadors are selected not only for their ability and enthusiasm, but for demonstrating development during the programme and overcoming personal challenges or supporting others to do the same.
