Overnight closures on the M6 could cause some delays for drivers ahead of the Christmas period.

Narrowed lanes and a 50mph speed limit will also be imposed during the day from December 8 onwards.

Bridge repairs and new safety barriers are needed between junction 20 at Lymm, the exchange with the M56, and junction 19 at Knutsford.

Severe weather caused the start of the £14.5m improvement project to be delayed from December 4.

The Highways Agency said advance warning signs will be in place and diversion routes will be clearly signposted.

All the work and closures are weather dependent.

A full list of closures for the next fortnight is below.

December 9 - Southbound between junctions 19 and 18 (includes closure of southbound Knutsford services).
