The M56 is now clear following earlier congestion on the eastbound carriageway of the M56 which had affected traffic travelling towards Manchester from Chester.

The slow lane had been closed due to a broken down vehicle, between junction 10 (A49, Stretton) and junction 9 (M6, Lymm Interchange), which was reported about 5.45pm today (Wednesday November 4).

BBC Travel had described the disruption is 'severe' but by 7.40pm there were no reported incidents.

This is the second evening in a row that commuters using the M56 had faced delays. Last night (Tuesday) a collision, involving two cars, occurred about 4.40pm on the exit slip road of the westbound M56 at junction 15, affecting northbound M53 traffic.
