A total closure of the M56 between junctions 14 and 11 has been imposed after a tanker overturned near Hapsford shortly before 4pm on Tuesday (October 20).

A cordon has been set up while emergency services deal with the incident, which is causing severe delays and stationary traffic in both directions.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service have confirmed that nobody is trapped in the tanker.

Motorist John McDougall reported seeing liquid 'pouring' from the vehicle.

The M56 is currently closed in both directions between junction 11, Daresbury, and Junction 14, Hapsford, due to a one vehicles collision.
