BUILDERS are confident luxury homes being built in Malpas will be occupied by the end of the year.
Despite the recent credit crunch and slowing of the housing market, construction of eight ‘character homes’ has started on St George’s Rise.
Six detached four/five bedroom houses and two semi-detached houses are being built on the old Gasworks site, off Well Lane and will cost close to £200,000.
The development is being heralded by builders as a sign that Malpas is continuing to grow.
Seddon Homes marketing director Denis Maddock said: “These properties will be traditionally built using a mellow, rustic brick consistent with other homes in the area. St George’s Rise will be timelessly compatible with this delightful Cheshire village location, making it an attractive proposition to buyers. It is our experience that there is still strong underlying demand for high specification, well-built new homes, in good locations.
“We aim to continue to meet that demand throughout 2010 with St George’s Rise and a number of other new developments.
“This is a great opportunity for potential buyers who have not yet sold their own property.”
The plans have been generally well-received by local authorities and building is expected to be finished on the houses by the end of 2010.
Malpas Parish councillor Adrian Waddelove said: “We were quite happy with the plans in the end. It is a good use of that site. It’s always good to have an element of growth.”
