A SECURITY guard was threatened with a gun during a terrifying afternoon cash raid in Little Sutton.

A robber pressed a black pistol into the man's side before escaping with a case of money.

PC Frank Morris of Ellesmere Port police said the raid happened at 1.35pm on Friday at the junction of Ledsham Road and the A41 Chester Road.

He explained: 'The offender approached a security guard who was in the process of delivering a cash cassette from a security van to a colleague at an ATM.

'The offender made threats towards the guard to drop the cassette.

'The guard fell on the pave-ment. The offender made further threats to him to release the cassette.

'He then pushed a black handgun into the guard's side.

'While doing so, the offender took hold of the cassette and ran to a nearby gold-coloured car in which a second offender was driving.

'He got into the front passenger seat and they made off at speed, turning left on to the A41 towards Birkenhead.'

The guard sustained minor injuries and was very shaken.

Soon afterwards the robbers were seen in a nearby street using the car to ram the cash cassette against the wall of a house to open it, which they eventually did.

The crooks then abandoned the car in a cul-de-sac and, it is believed, ran off along the A41, by the Red Lion pub.

The gunman was white with black hair and a fringe, aged 18-25, 5ft 8ins tall and of slim build. He wore a black hooded top and denim trousers.

The driver was white with short fair hair and of stocky build.

Detective Constable Steve Marsland of Chester, Ellesmere Port & Neston CID, said: 'Al-though this was a very quick and calculated attack, it happened when there were a lot of people in the area either on foot or driving through a very

busy junction.

'I ask anyone in the area at the time who saw the incident or can identify the suspects to contact me. I also want to speak to anyone who saw two men acting suspiciously on the A41 shortly after the incident.' nDC Marsland can be contacted on 01244 616053 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
