STAFF at a Northwich solicitors escaped injury when a high-sided lorry got too close for comfort on Tuesday afternoon.

The lorry hit the bay window overhanging the road outside Moss & Haselhurst, a couple of feet from where legal secretary Sue Lever was sitting.

All the wood underneath the bay was shaved off in the impact and an iron supporting strut loosened.

'I was sitting right next to the window and there was another member of staff in front of me when he suddenly heard a bang,' said Sue. 'We were lucky that the window didn't break and shower us all with glass.

'After this everyone would feel much safer if the bay was taken out completely and replaced with a flat window. In the meantime, the whole thing will have to be propped up.'

Though workers thought they would be safe on the first floor, it isn't the first time the building has been rocked by passing lorries.

A few years ago builders were called in to shave off a corner after passing lorries kept bumping into it.
