A NANTWICH vets has introduced a much-needed scheme to help identify lost pets and return them to their owners.
Nantwich Veterinary Group, at Crewe Road End, is using a process called 'identichip' - an injection which places a small electronic chip into the body of the animal.
Partner and veterinary surgeon Alan Banks said: 'We are trying to promote the identification of pets. The identichip process is very important for lost pets as they can be easily identified by police and ourselves using a scanner.
'Some dogs have no collar so this is a great way of returning them to their owner.
We have used this on horses.'
A chip, the size of a grain of rice, is inserted between the shoulder blades of pets.
The £10 injection takes 10 minutes and only has to be completed once. For more information call 01270 610322.
