A charity lunch hosted by the Lord Mayor of Chester has raised more than £700 for charity.

Councillor Angela Claydon and Lady Mayoress Sally Burgess held the event at the Mill Hotel and Spa, in Chester, on Sunday, July 17.

The lunch raised money for Councillor Claydon’s chosen charities Breastcare Chester, Chester Women’s Aid and Ellesmere Port, Chester and Neston Special Olympics.

It was very well attended and guests included neighbouring mayors, representatives from Plus Dane, Sanctuary Housing, Cheshire Fire Service, Chester Lions and local schools.

Councillor Claydon said: “I am delighted with the success of the event and would like to thank the Mill Hotel and Spa and all those who came to the lunch for their generous support.

“Together we raised £726.

“I would also like to extend my thanks to the local businesses and groups who kindly donated raffle prizes.”

The Lord Mayor’s next charity event is at Eaton Hall on 10 November. For more information ring the civic office on 01244 977701 or 01244 977702.
