A PERMIT scheme is being proposed to put an end to a car parking row in a narrow Nantwich street.

Residents have demanded answers from police after being warned they could face a £30 fine if they park recklessly outside their homes in South Crofts.

Cllr Joyce Stockton said: 'One woman told me she was putting her life in her own hands when she walks through her front gate but others say there isn't a problem.

'When the roads were built, they weren't made to cater for this much traffic. I think a permit scheme is the way forward.'

Sgt Adam Moreton said: 'We want to resolve this peacefully and we are looking at long-term solutions to the problem. A parking permit scheme is definitely an option.'
