VOLUNTEERS from the Chester branch of Lloyds Banking Group gavethe Saltney Ferry Scout hut a makeover.
Employees were given a day’s holiday to tidy up the hut and give it a new coat of paint.
Volunteer Chris Fozzard said: “There were 18 of us from two departments, 15 from Chester Business Park and three from Hoole.
It was all hands to the pump and we were able to put our management skills into action.
“All the woodwork and walls were given a fresh coat of paint and we replaced a couple of the doors.
“We also did some work on the outside to clear weeds, to transform the hut and give it a brighter feel.
“We did a bit of work on new signage and one of our more creative volunteers designed a mural with a tree and a beaver on one of the walls.
“The bank is very supportive of projects like this and funded the materials, contributing £25 for each volunteer.
“The place is well used by Beavers and Scouts and by older people for other events. I am sure these people will appreciate the work as well.”
Saltney Ferry Scout group leader Rob Benyon said he was delighted with the headquarters’ refurbishment.
He added: “The hut looks absolutely superb compared to what it was and it’s fantastic news for everyone. It certainly needed touching up.
“They have done a cracking job and it would have been very difficult for us to have put in that sort of effort, with all the other duties we have.
“I visited the group at the hut and they really were working very hard.”
