Thousands of cyclists turned out to take part in the 22nd annual bike ride between Liverpool and Chester and raise cash for Claire House Hospice.

These fantastic pictures show some of the riders who got on their bikes to tackle four different distances across six routes on Sunday.

They ranged from the five mile Birkenhead tunnel family ride, as well as 25 mile and 50 mile distances and the 100 mile Liverpool challenge, which starts and finishes in the tunnel.

There were also a series of free mini cycle shows including one at the Countess of Chester Health Park.

Bunbury's Beth Tweddle officially started – and then took part in – the Chester- Liverpool ride while Paralympic cyclist Rik Waddon was on hand to start the 50 mile Chester challenge.

Former Big Brother star Craig Phillips was among those riding for a cause close to their heart, taking on the 100 mile route to raise money for The Alzheimer’s Society after his mum was diagnosed with the condition ten years ago.

Last year, the generosity of cyclists at the Liverpool Chester Liverpool bike ride raised over £26,000 for Claire House Children’s Hospice! This year they are aiming for more than £30,000.
