Chester police have closed off the A5480 Deva Link near Saughall Road while they deal with an incident.
Rush hour traffic is building either side of the incident, the nature of which is not yet clear.

The police incident on the A5480 Deva Link Road is now at an end and thankfully the woman who was threatening to jump has been safely brought down from the bridge. Traffic is slowly returning to normal. Therefore we are bringing our live coverage of this incident to a close.
Woman comes down from bridge
Chester Police have just issued the following statement: “Shortly before 4pm today (Monday 7th November) police were called to a bridge on the A5480 Deva Link Road following concerns for the welfare of a woman.
“Emergency services attended the scene and a road closure was temporarily put in place.
“At 5.30pm the woman came down off the bridge and she is currently being checked over.
“The road has now reopened in both directions and we would like to thank drivers for their patience.”

Woman threatened to jump
Police had confirmed earlier that the incident involved a woman threatening to jump from a bridge over the A5480 Deva Link. However, we were asked not to publicise this at the time due to the sensitive nature of the incident.

As the rush hour takes effect, the incident is leading to severe congestion either side of the Saughall Road lights and traffic is now backed up through the Greyhound Retail Park and on to Sealand Road.
Not an RTA
The only thing we can establish at the moment is that it is not a road traffic accident.
Fire and ambulance services are in attendance at the scene along with police officers.

Chester Police have so far released the following statement: “Police are currently dealing with an incident on the A5480 Deva Link Road.
“The road is currently closed between Saughall Road and Blacon Avenue roundabout and drivers are advised to avoid the area.
“This is an isolated incident and further updates will be issued as soon as possible.”
