Police in stand-off for more than an hour
Police stopped the Mini Cooper in Queensferry at about 4pm we understand - two hours after the stabbing in Stoke.
A 48-year-old man was arrested at around 5.20pm, according to Staffordshire Police, more than an hour after police swooped on the vehicle.
Police covered the Mini involved in today’s armed incident in blue tarpaulin before it was taken away on a recovery truck. Officers spent some time searching the vehicle but it’s not clear if anything was taken away. Staffordshire Police are investigating after a woman was stabbed in Stoke.
Suspect being questioned by police
The 48-year-old man who was in the MIni car in Queensferry is going to be questioned by detectives. He was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a “domestic incident” in Stoke where a woman suffered multiple stab wounds.
The woman, who is in her 30s, is being treated in hospital in Stoke.

A man has been arrested after armed police swooped on a car in North Wales as part of an attempted murder investigation. Up to 20 officers, some with dogs, swarmed around a car which was travelling along Chester Road West in Queensferry. It later transpired that the operation was carried out following a “domestic related-incident” in Stoke-On-Trent hours earlier where a woman was rushed to hospital with multiple knife wounds . The drama unfolded around 4pm today when North Wales Police swooped on the Mini Cooper near the town’s Asda supermarket.
I understand that all roads have now re-opened.
Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after Queensferry armed police incident
A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a police operation on Deeside this afternoon. Police swooped on a silver Mini Cooper which was travelling along Chester Road West in Queensferry just before 4pm today.
Police thank public for their patience
Armed officers have taken to Twitter to thank everyone for their patience during the armed stand-off. Large parts of Deeside were left gridlocked for some time due to road closures.

The Stoke-on-Trent stabbing which sheds light on why armed police stopped a car in Queensferry
Staffordshire Police have shed some light on why a car was stopped by armed police in North Wales earlier today. A statement from the force said that a woman, who was in her 30s, has been left with “multiple knife wounds” following a domestic-related incident in the Stoke-On-Trent area at around 2.15pm this afternoon.
The woman, who has not been named, was rushed to the Royal Stoke University Hospital where she is currently receiving treatment. The incident happened on Foley Road in Longton, which was cordoned off while officers carried out investigations at the scene.
Man arrested for attempted murder
Police have confirmed that a 48-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
A man from Longton was detained by North Wales Police near Queensferry Asda.

Roads beginning to re-open
The B5129 Chester Road West and B5441 Station Road have now been reopened, say Flintshire County Council.
However, the Asda access road will remain closed for the time being. We are told it will re-open later though.

Stab victim is woman in her 30s
My colleagues over at the Stoke Sentinel tell us that a woman - who is in her 30s - was repeatedly stabbed in Foley Road, Longton, at 2.15pm today.
Staffordshire Police are now waiting to speak to the person who was in the car in Queensferry as their investigations continue.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We were called by police to an address on Foley Road after a patient had been assaulted. We treated a woman in her 30s who suffered multiple injuries. She was treated at the scene and then taken to hospital.”

Staffordshire Police have issued the following statement about the incident in Queensferry. North Wales Police stopped the Mini car outside Asda on behalf of the force in Staffordshire.
A car has been stopped in North Wales in connection with a domestic-related incident in Stoke-on-Trent earlier this afternoon (Jan 30). Colleagues from North Wales Police have stopped a car at a supermarket car park in Queensferry. We want to speak to the driver in connection with the incident. A woman has been taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital by ambulance with multiple knife wounds following an incident at Foley Road, Longton.
Car stopped in connection with 'domestic-related' incident
We are told that the car has been stopped in connection with a domestic-related incident in Stoke-on-Trent earlier this afternoon.
Arriva Buses are also reporting delays to services due to the incident.
Police helicopter involved
The police helicopter was also deployed during the incident. They say that one person has been detained by officers on the ground.
There are queues on the A494 westbound between Sealand Road and Drome Corner. The traffic is not being helped by the police incident in Queensferry.
Motorists urged to avoid the area
Police say the incident remains ongoing - they are asking drivers to find alternative routes.
'Major congestion' in Deeside
Flintshire County Council are warning that there is “major congestion” throughout Deeside.
A spokesman said: “ North Wales Police are currently dealing with an incident on the B5129 Queensferry Interchange, the following roads have been closed around the interchange; B5129 Chester Road West, B5441 Station Road, Asda Access Road.
Please be aware that there’s currently major congestion throughout Deeside. An update will be sent as soon as we have any further details.”
