School leavers at the University Church of England Academy, Ellesmere Port (UCEA) have a bright future ahead of them as they celebrate another impressive year for A level results according to the academy.

The academy says the overall pass rate remains high at 96%, with a ‘remarkable’ 49% of grades being at grades A* or A.

Principal Kevin McDermott said: “I am delighted with our students’ A level results this year.

“They demonstrate the hard work by both students and staff and timely support from parents.

“Students at UCEA continue to improve achieving fantastic results at grade A* or A equivalent (49%). When set against a falling national figure this achievement is quite remarkable.”

He continued: “The students’ achievements today are a reflection of their commitment to our vision of success for all.

“This set of results demonstrates our continued improvement.

“There have been some outstanding individual performances, including our head girl Hannah McMurray 2A*/1A, Ellie Ward, Amy Griffiths, Molly McGuinness, Jess Mort and Bethany Smethurst all achieving 3A*, Lorna Hill 2A*/1A, Alex McLaughlin 2A*/1A, Jack Simcox 1A*/2A, Toni Cull and Emily Harris 2A*/1C, Connor Maguire 2A*/1A/1C.

“I would like to congratulate all our A level students on these fantastic achievements and wish them well on their next exciting step in life.”
