Today (Sunday January 10) is your last chance to use Chester's Linenhall car park.
From tomorrow the car park will be closed permanently to the public as work begins on a massive 550-bed student complex at the site.
The car park development will comprise 143 studio flats and 59 shared living apartments in a joint venture between Chester Race Company, who own the former stables site, and London-based Stephenson Development (Southern) Holdings Ltd.
The stables were relocated from Linenhall to the main Chester Racecourse site a few years ago.
Archaeologists hired by the Stephenson group have already dug excavation trenches at the car park and The Chronicle understands remains of walls from the cloisters of an original Franciscan Greyfriars monastery have been discovered.
It is expected the development will be completed for the start of the 2017 university academic year.
