PROUD gardeners have their last chance to enter their handiwork into a competition.

It is the last week for entries in Chester and District Housing Trust’s (CDHT) annual gardening competition with the closing date this Friday.

First, second and third prizes for Garden Competition 2009 winners will be awarded in each of CDHT’s six neighbourhoods and an overall winner will also be announced.

Categories include: Best Window Box or Balcony, Best Sheltered Scheme, Best Vegetable Garden, Young Person's Award and Best Group of Gardens.Š

Organiser Sara Morley, CDHT neighbourhood services manager, said: “You can also nominate a garden that you feel is a winner.

“It is so rewarding to see the fruits of everyone’s labours; it really improves the neighbourhoods.”

The overall winner will receive an engraved trophy and a prize of £100, with an overall second prize of £50 and an overall third prize of £25. There will be a first prize of £50 for each of the six neighbourhoods, with a second prize of £25 and a third prize of £10.
