LACHE Community Centre was the venue for a special celebration as the Lache Over 60s Club celebrated its 20th anniversary.

The event coincided with the Full of Life campaign which is a celebration of the opportunities, achievements, and aspirations of older people and their contribution to our society and economy. The campaign includes UK Older People’s Day.

The club was set up in 1998 in order to provide social activities for older people in Lache with support from Age Concern, Adult Services, housing, health services, Lache Church and Lache Park Ltd (formerly Lache Community Development Project Committee).

The club meets at Lache Community Centre every Monday from 9.30am to 2pm. Over the past 20 years, members have enjoyed trips to the seaside and local places of interest, Christmas parties, regular lunches, as well as gentle exercise sessions in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.

The Lache Over 60s Club is dependent on its dedicated volunteers and one paid worker. If you would like to become a volunteer or would like to join the club, please contact Liz Holding or Joanne Roberts on 01244 675 818.

Pictures from the 20th anniversary celebration will be featured in the Community News section in the City edition of Friday’s Chronicle, on sale October 10.
