A COMMUNITY radio station is preparing for another stint back on the airwaves this summer.
Lache FM will be broadcasting from July 11 for 12 days, and the team is midway through a training course for budding DJs.
The station will return on 87.6FM frequency and online at www.lachefm.org.uk.
Community charity Lache Park Limited, which set up the station in 2007, has been delivering a series of radio skills training workshops in the build-up to the broadcast via its media group.
Matt Poynton, from Lache, is one of the new presenters at the training workshops.
He said: “It’s great to learn something new, it’s something I would not normally have the chance to do. I am a bit nervous but I am unbelievably excited about the broadcast in July.”
Lache FM is also running a series of webcasts – available at www.lachefm.org.uk – every Thursday from noon.
John Murray, of Handbridge, editor of community website www.handbridge.com, is hosting his own on show on Lache FM called The Time Machine.
He said: “Lache FM is a brilliant idea and a great way of getting the whole community together.’’
Lache resident and musician King Siso was in the studio last week to promote his new EP Swanglish 1.0, which he wrote, performed and produced.
He said: “It is an amazing project and is fantastic to be involved in. It is the number one stop for all aspiring musicians in the area to get their first airplay and radio interviews.”
