Newly-weds Helen Jackson and Kevin Grady, of Brynn Street, adopted a unique medieval theme to their ceremony which stunned registrars.
According to one guest, the staff at the Runcorn Register Office had to admit that they 'had never seen anything like it before' as scores of well-wishers accompanied the bride and bride groom to the ceremony.
More than 200 people crammed into the building, with at least 100 of the guests sporting fancy dress costumes.
Helen, a theatre nurse at Halton Hospital, became Queen Guinevere for the day with Kevin taking on the role of King Arthur.
The pair even rode together on horseback to their afternoon function which stopped traffic in Deacon Road en route to The Village in Appleton where guests tucked into a 'magnificent medieval feast' which included shoulders of lamb and a roasted pig on a spit.
The couple had also drafted in a Celtic band which played in the background while the guests tucked into their meal.
Helen wore a dazzling grey robe which stretched to her feet while her husband wore a chain-mail suit with a Cross of St George emblazoned on his chest. He also carried a sword and shield as well as a metal helmet.
After marriage vows were exchanged, the couple posed for photographs with their guests before being whisked to Widnes...on a trike!
One guest said no expense was spared and the day was one Halton won't forget in a hurry.
She said: 'The day was absolutely brilliant.
'The bride and groom were dressed in great medieval costumes, as did scores of other guests.
'People came dressed as nuns, clowns, film characters, the Blues Brothers, singers and groups - there was a real variety of costumes.
'When we all got to The Village, people could not believe the amount and quality of the food and the way it was done in a rustic fashion.
'It was a real throwback to medieval times and it was a superb day all round.'
Helen and Kevin had been planning to hold a wedding with a difference for some time and guests claimed the day was a huge success with all parties making the effort to dress up.
The happy couple are now enjoying a three-week honeymoon in Las Vegas and Hawaii.
