A King's School student has been invited to play for a national youth orchestra.

Marissa Landy, 16, of Pulford, has been invited to join the National Youth Chamber Orchestra. She will be one of only two flautists in the NYCO.

Director of music, Tim Harvey, at King’s is especially proud of Marissa’s achievement.  He said: “Marissa is an outstanding and gifted musician who gives her time willingly to our senior instrumental and vocal ensembles. Her interests are broad, from music theatre to contemporary composition and she is currently working towards her ABRSM diploma on flute.”

Last year Marissa successfully auditioned for the National Children's Chamber Orchestra. Subsequently, in the summer, she was invited back as a member of the National Youth Wind Ensemble, but has been offered a place as a member of the top ensemble within this organisation. They will work during a residential period after Easter that will culminate in a concert in Cambridge.
