King's School pupil Matthew Willis, 13, of Marford, competed in the Welsh Inter Regional Cross Country Championships in Builth Wells.
Entering the U15 boys’ race for the first time, Matthew placed second and helped his North Wales team to victory.
Matthew was also selected to represent Wales in the Celtic Cross Country International 2014, which was held last Saturday in Antrim, Northern Ireland.
