PUPILS of Chester’s King’s School made the right moves to record success in a chess tournament.

Five of the 16 students who took part in the Mega Final, held at Warrington, were champions in their age group, with two others finishing as runners-up. Each student played six matches over the course of seven hours.

Eight pupils have now progressed to the North of England Giga Final, to be held in July.

Those winning their age groups were James Carr, 18, of Hawarden, Marvin Hayes, 15, of Chester, Emily Moss, 15, of Rossett, Davin Menon, 15, of Wrexham and Sam Arshad Roberts, 14, of Northop.
