Pupils from The King’s School have once again been busy completing their Duke of Edinburgh’s (DofE) Awards programmes.

Through the volunteering part of their programme, young people give their free time to society with a value of over £19 million per year.

Tom Thornhill, 16, of Whitchurch; George Middlehurst, 16, of Mold; Hannah Dent, 15, of Hawarden; Jack Stirrup, 15, of Chester; Miriam Bowen, 17, of Oswestry; and Harry Chappell, 16, of Chester, have all received Bronze Awards.

Will Miller, 16, of Heswall; Alex Constantinou, 17, of Warrington; and Will Everett, 18, of Chester received Silver Awards.

Tim Pemberton, 17, of Chester; James Edholm, 17, of Chester; and Will Everett have completed their Gold Awards. Those pupils with Gold Awards will be invited to attend a prestigious awards ceremony in London.

Teacher and Duke of Edinburgh’s Award co-ordinator at King’s, Miss Delyth Roberts, said;

“My congratulations go to all the pupils who have worked very hard to achieve these awards. The King’s School is proud of its long tradition of Duke of Edinburgh Award participation and it is one of the largest programmes of its kind in the region.”

Robbie Johnston, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Director for the North West, added:

“We are delighted that The King’s School gives young people the opportunity to do their DofE at all three levels and that it’s going from strength to strength with its DofE activities. Taking part helps young people develop skills they need for work and life – from compassion and teamwork to leadership and independence and to achieve something that is tangible, recognised by universities and employers alike.  We congratulate all pupils who’ve achieved a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award this year and look forward to seeing many more Awards achieved at The King’s School in future years.”
