A KELSALL woman celebrated her 100th birthday in style with the help of a iconic British brand.

Rene Meister who lives in Sable Cottage Nursing home enjoyed a party with her closest family and friends.

Rene contacted Woolworths.co.uk in response to an appeal to find those turning 100 in November. Woolworths also turns 100 and to celebrate this milestone the new Woolies team decided to throw parties for others who were reaching their 100th birthday in November.

Rene and her friends were entertained by singer Sandra Currie and enjoyed cakes, sweets and decorations supplied by the Woolworths.

Rene was born in Manchester into a large family of brothers and sisters. She spent much of her childhood caring for her blind sister.

Rene’s passion is tennis and she played for Liverpool professionally in her younger days although she now prefers to follow it on the TV.

Rene said: “We all get old some time, but I was looking forward to turning 100. It’s a very special occasion with friends and family and I am very grateful to Woolworths.co.uk for helping make this such an exciting event. ”
