A GIRL from Kelsall will take to the stage for the English Youth Ballet.

Ava McEvoy, aged 10 was specially selected in a major audition to dance with the company in a large-scale production of the classic ballet – Giselle – at the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre.

Ava will rehearse for just 11 days and will be trained by EYB’s professional ballet dancers and teachers. She will dance alongside the international EYB principal artists and treat the audience to a ballet production of the highest professional standards.

Ava’s mum Kerry said: “Ava is very excited. She will be taught by some of the best dance teachers in the country and can’t wait to get started.”

This success in the EYB auditions comes after the Kelsall Primary School pupil gained a place for the Centre for Advanced Training Programme at Northern Ballet Theatre Academy in Leeds in April. She will be under the instruction of the renowned ballet mistress Yoko Ichino who herself danced opposite Rudolph Nureyev. Ava will also tour with Northern Ballet Theatre’s Professional Company later this year and she has been accepted onto the Elmhurst’s School of Dance Pre-Vocational Programme.

Giselle will be at the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre on September 17 and 18. Contact the box office on 01902 429212.
