CHEF David Mooney took a break from cooking the food at his new Kelsall pub, The Lord Binning, to make a star studded TV appearance.

Viewers tuning into BBC2’s Hairy Bikers’ Christmas Party over the festive season would have seen Mr Mooney, the North West’s original ‘celebrity chef’, joining in with their festive celebrations.

The fun-loving Hairy Bikers duo which consists of Simon King and Dave Myers, who have had a number of successful TV programmes, organised a feast of the finest festive party food washed down with Yuletide drinks in the unusual location of a yurt in Cannock Chase.

But before party preparations began, the bikers travelled all over the country to unearth the secrets of how to throw an incredible Christmas party.

Passionate foodie Mr Mooney is no stranger to making TV appearances – he made more than 200 appearances as the resident chef on the North West’s Granada Tonight programme, and hosted The Food Hunter, a show that saw him travelling around the region, ironically on his motorbike, and cooking up a storm in various locations using locally sourced produce.

He took over The Lord Binning pub, formerly known as The Morris Dancer, earlier this year with business partner Paul Newman, with the aim to reinvent and revitalise the premises, giving it a classic country pub feel, combined with a modern touch.
