A PERSONAL trainer who made a life-saving switch to fitness coaching after a health scare has been named as one of the top five instructors in the UK.

Mike Searle, 47, of Springfields, Mickle Trafford, quit his high pressure role as a manager in the food industry after being diagnosed with dangerously high blood pressure to set up his own personal training company.

“Work was really having a huge impact on my health,” said Mike.

“I was a manger in the food industry, it was very stressful on the factory floor and a very high pressured role.

“I was diagnosed with very high blood pressure and the doctor said they’d seen younger people than me die from it.

“I resigned from my role and I retrained a personal trainer, setting the company up in 2003.”

Narrowly missing out in the National Fitness Awards 2010 for personal trainer of the year, Mike – who’s company body4life run fitness classes and personal training from Forest Hills Hotel, Frodsham, and the Hilton Doubletree – was named as one of the top five instructors in the UK.

“It’s the best thing I’ve ever done,” added Mike.

“I should have done it 20 years ago.

“I’m doing what I love doing, working with people and helping them get fit.

“Although I wasn’t the winner on the night I was made up to get that far and get nominated.

“It’s the first time I have been nominated, I was a bit taken a back and was very honoured by it.

“It was very intensive but I was really pleased to go through that process.”
