KATH Hewitt, a longstanding member of Frodsham Recorded Music Society, was the speaker at its April meeting, held as usual at the Arts Centre, Castle Park.

Her presentation was entitled Travels Without a Donke y. She hoped that her intention of making it big, bold and brassy would be recognised.

It started on the right lines with Russia represented by a spirited recording of Marche Slave.

Among the items played during the evening, all were associated with travels with her husband over the years.

Italian memories were recalled by the distinctive Penguin Cafe Orchestra and Pavarotti, Japan by a Japanese violinist playing some Chinese music, while America was recalled by an excerpt from West Side Stor y and Trumpet Blues and Cantabile by Harry James.

Poulenc and Ravel works represented France, Rodrigo and Barcelona for Spain, Dvorak's Serenade for Strings for a Czech tour, Cornish Rhapsody for Cornwall... and so on.

Chairman Jack Harley gave a vote of thanks.

The next meeting is the last of the season on May 1, with Sandra Williams presenting Musical Memories.
