RENEWED concerns have been raised about safety at a busy road junction.

They relate to the A5117 and Stanney Woods Avenue, Little Stanney, near Cheshire Oaks.

Residents on the estate complain it is often dangerous for vehicles to turn right from Stanney Woods Avenue on to the main road.

They say it is also hazardous to turn right into the estate.

County engineers point out that measures, including revised carriageway markings, have been undertaken at the junction.

But they say in a report to highways chiefs that the only long-term solution is the creation of a roundabout or the installation of traffic signals. Both would be 'prohibitively expensive'.

The Chester/Ellesmere Port and Neston boundary adjoins the road and the whole of the carriageway is in Chester district, meaning any solution would have to be funded by the local transport plan budget for Chester.

It would not be possible to reduce the speed limit on the main road as this would not meet the guidelines.
