A CREWE charity runner will finally be able to help two causes in Sunday's London Marathon.

Jane Aliane, 38 and from Thor nfields, Coppenhall, will run the event in aid of the Wingate Special Children's Trust in Wrenbury and the Macmillan Cancer Unit Appeal at Leighton Hospital.

Her decision not to apply for one of the hundreds of places offered by national charities resulted in her failing to get a place the last three times she applied, But she managed to get through this year using the ballot system in place for local charity runners.

Jane has been training hard, getting dropped off in Alderley Edge to run back home to Coppenhall on a regular basis. She hopes to raise £1,000 for each charity.

She said: 'I wanted to raise money for causes that were benefiting my local community and those where I could see the difference I was making.

'I chose the Wingate Special Children's Trust as they are a local children's charity making a big difference to children's lives and I was really impressed with the work they do with profoundly disabled children and young people.

'I also wanted to support the Macmillan Leighton Appeal for personal reasons and because I know the new unit will make a huge difference to the hospital.'
