STRESSED-OUT workers can now hook, jab and uppercut their way to a healthier lifestyle - and no-one needs to get hurt!
The Punch Clinic, which opened on Queens Court in Winsford on Saturday, is a fitness centre with a difference.
Offering 'stress relief the fun way', it gives workers who are chained to the desk or production line from 9am-5pm the chance to let off some steam.
Instead of fighting other people, users take out their aggression on punch-bags, or even one of the clinic's free-standing, life-size plastic models known as BOB men.
Co-founder Marc Westacott believes it is the ideal way for people with busy, stressful jobs to relax while getting some much-needed exercise.
He said: 'There is nothing better for stress relief than boxing - it's a great way to get rid of your pent-up aggression, and this way no-one has to worry about getting hurt.
'People with stressful jobs that involve a lot of sitting around get very little exercise. They're probably very unfit, so this is a different, enjoyable way of becoming active.'
The clinic offers different sessions depending on fitness levels and confidence. Group and individual sessions are available, and private booths can be used if required.
Marc's business partner Neil Burke said: 'People who are overweight, depressed or lack self-confidence can be put off if they know they will be exercising in front of big groups.
'That's why we give them the chance to come into an informal environment where they don't have to worry about what other people think.'
Marc and Neil give training, and can offer advice on diets and personalised exercise programmes. Opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-9pm and 10am-4pm on weekends. Sessions last one hour and cost £3.50 for members, £5 for non-members. Membership costs £30 per year.
