Staff at a Chester travel firm are celebrating after their CEO announced she would be taking them all on holiday to mark the end of a record financial year.
ITC Luxury Travel, on Canal Street, told their 108 staff - 97 of whom are based in the city centre headquarters - that to recognise their hard work in the past 12 months the company would be paying for them to spend a weekend at the exclusive Ritz-Carlton, Abama in Tenerife – an experience normally reserved for ITC’s elite clientele.
CEO Jennifer Atkinson, 40, said: “It was an utter pleasure to be able to make this happy announcement. Here at ITC Luxury Travel we ‘work hard play hard’ and I truly believe that when you recognise hard work as a business you get the very best from your employees. And of course I’m looking forward to joining them in Tenerife too.”
End of year figures showed the luxury tour operator had achieved in excess of £1.7m profit for the financial year 2014/2015; its best result to date.
“Last year we marked forty years of ITC, so it was a fitting tribute to end the year with this news,” added Mrs Atkinson, who completed a management buy-out of the firm last summer with former chief executive of Capita, Paul Pindar.
Staff were also made aware last week of a graduate training programme which will be launched this summer to take on young trainees dreaming of a career in travel. A new office in Preston was also announced.
Holly Westwood, 27, of Huntington, has been at ITC for four years and was named Salesperson of the Year at ITC’s staff update on 21 April, winning two business class flights anywhere in the world with British Airways.
She said: “I am over the moon to win the award, it feels amazing to be recognised by the business and I feel extremely valued. ITC is a fantastic company to work for with endless opportunities to progress, which I am now starting to do. I really do have the best job in the world!
“Celebrating our shared success as a company in Tenerife, and at one of my favourite resorts, will be a trip to remember I’m certain.”
