A SMARTPHONE-SAVVY school from Chester has released its own iPhone application.

The Queen’s School, on City Walls Road, can now keep parents up to date with school news and events via iPhone, iPod Touch or an iPad.

Headteacher Sarah Clark, said: “Queen’s is amongst the first schools in the country to have an iPhone app, and we believe the first in the north west. Parents, pupils and friends of the school will be able to use the app which will continue to be very much a work in progress. We trust that they will find it an additional useful tool.” ”

Paul Foster, Director of ICT, added: “The app offers an additional means of reaching QS Connect and the virtual learning environment (VLE) for students which is quick and easy. Version two is scheduled for release early in the New Year and we are working with parents and pupils on ideas to take the app forward. We also expect to provide similar solutions for Android, BlackBerry and Windows Phone users.”

The app is available as a free download from the iTunes app Store. Search for ‘Queen’s Chester’.
