TEN-YEAR-OLD Leanne Huttley has been picked as the face of the Broughton and Bretton Carnival 2011.
The community event, which is due to take place on May 21, is making a comeback after more than 20 years.
Broughton Junior School pupil Leanne was chosen as Rose Queen and will lead the parade next month.
Leanne has been taking her duties seriously and has even met Broughton’s first ever Rose Queen Rose Fairclough, now 79, who is opening the comeback event.
Carnival committee member Ellen Jones said that plans for the big day were going well and organisers were grateful for the support they had received from residents and local businesses.
“We have had so many positive responses,” she said. “Broughton Shopping Park have given us £2,000 – we are delighted.
“Thank you to all the businesses in the area who have helped us.”
A number of events are in the pipeline for the carnival, which will be held on Brookes Avenue playing field, including a fair with stalls, a parade and the traditional Rose Queen crowning.
“We hope this will be a great day out for all the family and bring the community together,” added Ellen.
