A POLICE investigation is underway after a derelict bungalow caught fire in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday May 15).

Ten firefighters from Chester and Malpas were called out to Hermitage Road in Saughall at 5.50am, after it was reported that the two-bedroomed detached property was ablaze.

Due to the asbestos roof construction, crews had to work from the outside of the property, and used two main jets to extinguish the flames.

The fire took almost four hours to put out and police are currently investigating at the property.
