AN EMERGENCY information centre has been opened for fire-stricken businesses following the Chester Enterprise Centre blaze this morning.

Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Economic Development team has opened the emergency information centre for businesses at the Council’s HQ building hoping to help the 50 businesses affected by the fire.

“Our priority is to keep these businesses going if it is possible to do so,” said chief executive Steve Robinson.

“To do that we will need to get some idea of their accommodation and IT requirements as soon as possible.

“Already the council’s partners, including the University of Chester, are coming forward with offers of help in this respect.”

The council owned Enterprise Centre site will be sealed off for several days at least to enable safety work and investigations by Police and Fire and Rescue Service t continue.

Demolition of the former warehouse block’s gable ends will begin under the guidance of the Council’s Building Control officers tomorrow morning.

Affected businesses can either ring the Council’s emergency hotline on 01244 972732 or 972792 or email business@cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk
