RUNCORN'S Select Security Services has been recognised by Halton Borough Council for its pioneering attitude towards working with disabled people.
Select provides security to numerous companies across the region and to comply with the stringent legislation to which the industry is now subject, it has invested heavily in staff and training and has employed 160 local people in the past 12 months.
The company's commitment to its staff is such that it has developed its own training venue, which delivers training to SIA standards.
This facility is also available to individuals and other organisations seeking to gain the recognised industry qualification.
As part of its commitment to the community, the company developed a socially inclusive, disability positive policy and as a result - working in partnership with Halton Borough Council's supported employment team, HPIJ and Employment Team - has given employment opportunities to several disabled people.
They have helped Select achieve its growing reputation of professionalism, integrity and competence.
In recognition of this commitment to disabled people, Select Security Services has now been awarded the Supported Employment Gold Award, by Halton Borough Council's supported employment team.
Eddie Dourley, work placement officer on the team, said: 'We would like to thank Louise and all at Select Security for their support.
'We look forward to continuing this successful partnership in the future.'
