Police are still trying to determine who the person pulled out of the River Dee in Chester on Monday (June 6) is.

The tragedy unfolded after police received reports of a body floating in the water near Saddlery Way at 1.50pm, triggering a large-scale emergency service response including forensics and underwater search teams.

The death is currently being treated as 'unexplained' by Cheshire Constabulary, but a post mortem examination will be held today (June 7) to establish the cause of death.

A spokeswoman for the force told The Chronicle: " The Home Office Post Mortem takes place today.

"Enquiries are continuing to establish the identity of the body."
