OFSTED found a village preschool had improved since an earlier inspection.

The conclusion was reached by Ron Goldsmith following a visit to the Little Acorns Preschool at Huxley Village Institute, Huxley Lane, Huxley.

The group, managed by a voluntary committee, is run from the main room of the village hall three days a week during term time and has seven children on roll, according to his report.

Mr Goldsmith said the provision for early years children is now ‘good’ compared with ‘satisfactory’ at an inspection in 2010.

The youngsters are very happy and keen to learn and have high levels of independence, curiosity and imagination.

The high-quality surroundings indoors and outside, together with effective planning, provides the children with an interesting and stimulating range of activities which builds on their natural curiosity and interest.

They are well prepared for the next stage in their learning.

The children make good progress and parents are encouraged to contribute toward the assessment of their youngsters.
