HUNDREDS of runners sprinted down the steep streets of Frodsham on Saturday for the sixth annual Downhill Run.

Athletes of all ages hit the road for the popular event, which had been threatened with cancellation earlier in the year after councillors raised road safety concerns.

The 1.5-mile race took participants from the top of Frodsham Hill to the Community Centre on Fluin Lane.

After the run, families browsed stalls, braved the rides at Silcock’s fairground and were treated to an afternoon of live entertainment.

This year’s event was supported by Widnes Vikings RLFC, Frodsham Town Council, Lawless the Bakers, Frodsham & Helsby Rotary Club, Forest Hills Hotel and many others.
