AN INNOVATIVE website enabling users to access statistics on local services with just a click of the mouse has been launched.

DORIC, the Data Observatory Research & Intelligence Collaborative for Cheshire, Halton and Warrington, is a portal giving direct access to information on a range of topics from school performance tables and air quality monitoring in the region, to census reports from 1801 to 2001 and information about the forthcoming 2011 census.

Links to sites with postcode searches will enable users to look up data for their area on topics such as road safety and unemployment statistics.

Leader of the council, Cllr Mike Jones said: “The launch of DORIC will allow local people, community groups and businesses throughout Cheshire, Halton and Warrington to keep up-to-date with exactly what is going on in their area, encouraging them to get involved and have their say on issues affecting them.

“Certainly for the authority the launch of the website will ensure that we can accurately identify the needs of local areas on an individual basis and monitor the progress of schemes already in place.”

The website will also benefit users such as researchers, community groups and businesses, as well as local residents, providing access to authoritative information about local population and communities, crime, health and the economy.
