HUNDREDS of adventurous youngsters danced and partied in the park to celebrate 100 years of scouting across Frodsham and Helsby.

Scouts flocked to the grounds of the Heath Business and Technical Park in Runcorn to join together to learn about fire safety and enjoy fun and games on the grassy lawns.

The celebration, which saw the youngsters enjoy water zorbing and a huge picnic before partying into the early evening with live bands playing on the stage, was held to mark 100 years of North West Cheshire Scouting.

The day was split into two halves with the Beavers and Cubs enjoying fun-filled activities in the morning, before the Scouts and Explorers danced and sang into the night as a DJ played a live set.

And the Mayor and Mayoress of Halton, Cllrs Tom and Angela McInerney, popped by to watch the youngsters enjoying the day long celebrations.

Speaking about the day, the Cubs’ assistant district commissioner Dianne Gardener said: “It was a fantastic day. We were extremely pleased with the turnout and everybody seemed to enjoy themselves.”
