THE parents of a man who died in a car crash said they never knew how popular their son was.

Danny Forooghian, 18, was killed in the early hours of Thursday, February 26, after the Renault Clio in which he was a passenger crashed in Main Road, Higher Kinnerton.

Danny, a promising youth football coach at Wrexham Football Club, lived with his family in the village.

His family have received more than 280 condolence cards.

His dad, Iraj Forooghian, said: 'Danny was wonderful and kind. We can't believe he is gone.'

More than 200 people attended Danny's funeral on Wednesday morning, including

Wrexham FC goalkeeper Andy Dibble and striker Lee Jones.

Captain of Connah's Quay Nomads, Gareth Owen, also joined mourners, as did many from the local football scene.

Danny's mum Carrole said: 'We would ask that people wishing to pay their respects to Danny make donations to Penyffordd Football Club.'

His brother, Bobby Cooper, 27, said he would always miss him and Paula Hughes, 30, said he was the world's best brother.

The funeral at All Saints Church, Higher Kinnerton, was broadcast outside via loudspeakers as there was insufficient room inside for all the mourners. The service was conducted by the Rev Elaine Hodge, a family friend.

Danny's girlfriend Naomi Bradshaw was at the funeral.

After the service, Danny's body was taken to Pentrebychan Crematorium in Wrexham.

The funeral of the car driver and second victim of the accident, 21-year-old Gareth Wyn Merwah, was held on Monday.

His father, Dr Ashok Merwah, is a well-known GP with practices in Higher Kinnerton and Caergwrle.

Family and friends, including his father, mother and older brother joined Gareth's partner Tanya and their son, two, and daughter, one, to pay their last respects.
