LANGUAGE is no barrier to a youngster at a Chester school.

Year 3 pupil Hugo Crick-Furman, who attends The Firs in Plas Newton Lane, is taking part in the annual Junior Language Challenge, organised by Eurotalk, which offers tuition in more than 110 languages

The competition was set up to give children across the country a head start in learning languages.

Primary school children are challenged to learn up to three languages in nine months.

The top prize offers the winner and their family a trip to Africa. The competition is now in its sixth year.

Hugo has won through to the regional semi finals, to be held in September, after impressing the judges with his knowledge of Dutch.
