Yesterday's 10-hour stalemate between police and a man refusing to come down from a rooftop in Blacon certainly captured the attention.
The 26-year-old was later arrested on suspicion of affray, threats to kill and criminal damage.
As the drama unfolded, scores of people took to Twitter and Facebook to express their concerns as well as crack some jokes.
Officers were first called to Blacon at about 5pm on Wednesday (April 14).
Reports said the man was throwing slates down from the room, some of which caused damage to cars in the street.
There was frustration for residents within the police cordon as they were stopped from getting to their homes.
Michaela Roberts commented on Facebook: "I just want to get in my bloody house, been sitting in my car for nearly two hours."
Steph Salusbury added: “Whilst there is an audience he will continue, just leave him to it, he’ll soon get bored and cold."
As darkness fell it seemed the stand-off was destined to go on long into the night. Officers did begin escorting people into their houses from about 10pm.
Kirsty Butterworth said: “Leave him alone, he’s just enjoying a night on the tiles!"
Finally a safe end to the drama was reached at about 3am on Thursday.
Anne Charlton-Toye said: “Glad for the safe end, hope families can get back home now, well done everyone.”
