Barbecue aromas linger in the air, windows are flung wide open and everyone seems to be in a better mood... That's right, the sun's out and has been for a few days in Chester and Ellesmere Port.

But should we be making the most of this warm and sunny spell or will it be hanging around for a bit?

Well, happily, it looks like we're in for continued good weather over the next week, as experts claim this could be the start of a long, hot summer.

Temperatures in the region will remain in the low 20°Cs before dropping slightly to the high teens next weekend.

But check the forecasts before you put your washing on the line, as isolated but heavy showers may feature over the next few days.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: "The lengthy warm sunny spells will continue on Monday with isolated afternoon thundery showers developing.

"Mainly dry with scattered thundery showers on Tuesday, these tending to be more isolated on Wednesday and Thursday.

"Remaining warm and humid."
