STEPS were taken by the Chester and District Housing Trust to help resolve parking issues in a green belt village.

The trust told borough planners that for a considerable number of years residents in The Square, Christleton had experienced increasing difficulty with parking.

The once council owned properties had not been designed with driveways or car ownership in mind. With increasing numbers of cars, parking in the narrow cul de sac was causing access problems.

Residents had approached the housing trust to discuss the possibility of additional areas being used to provide car parking spaces. A scheme had been prepared to create six new bays.

Three would occupy a grassed area and existing bays would be extended to allow for a further three.

No comments were made by Christleton Parish Council.

The bays would not be unduly harmful to the character and appearance of the conservation area, planners suggested.

They would deal with cars being parked on grass verges in the cul de sac and the effect that had on the appearance of the road.

Permission was agreed.
