THE annual Light Up A Life Appeal has been launched by the Hospice of the Good Shepherd.

For the four hospice fundraisers, it is a poignant event as between them they have had a mum, dad, grandparent and future father-in law cared for by hospice nursing staff.

Amanda Le Bretton, Elaine Mapp, Margaret Hopkins and Jemma Hamilton all appreciate the unique place that the Light Up a Life has in their hearts at this very poignant time of year.

They said: 'We feel comforted that we will be able to remember our loved ones with these dedicated lights at a time of celebration and hope.'

This year the hospice will be lit up once again from the big 'switch on' on Sunday, December 10 to Twelfth Night on January 6.

Last year this annual event raised more than £30,000 for hospice care and this year the hospice will offer people the chance to sponsor a light for a loved one.

Everyone who sponsors a light will have their name entered in the Book of Life.

They will also receive a Light Up A Life card and a memory star.
